Sirens blare, echoing about the mentally empty city. Statues commemorating honor and respect for the city have fallen to ruble, the sky paint an almost bloody orange. No clouds inhabit the once beautiful sky.
I ran quickly down the old and cracked streets. Words were blaring through the air on the big screens and foghorns. The words were never heard but always understood. My blond hair moved about my face as I ran, the combat boots I wore tapped against the ground. I had my black hat pulled down to hide my eyes from the sun who's rays had intensified the heat. The buildings passed by quick. Old, worn, cracked, falling, just like the world.
The year is 3112 and we're all failing, falling to our knees in submission. We have no more free will, no free speech…nothing. I dress in Black to go unnoticed, to show that I am different. But no one takes true notice. All of our national colors have been taken, replaced with Black and Red for surrender and blood.
I skidded to a halt and stood at the entrance of an older building, though it looked no different than the rest, but never judge a book by its cover. The door to the tan building was splintering, painted a dark brown. The doorknob was an older one, one needed to be used with a complicated key. Since I was on the untechnological part of the city, most of the door were like this, needed to be unlocked with a key. I pulled out my own from my pocket and turned it in the lock, pushing the old door open with a Black, leather gloves hand. I pulled my Black trench coat closer around myself as a blast of cold air hit me. Inside the breeze, believe it or not, were DNA sensors. To make sure I was who I really was.
The door stayed open, ajar, until I stepped in where it closed and locked behind me. I had to walk down through a few flight of stairs, small candles set in indentions in the wall were my only light, fairly dim. The stairs seemed never ending until I reached a metallic door. The was a key pad on one side, what seemed to be a glass eye on the other side and a microphone. "Entrance routine please." Sounded a computerized voice. "Vendetta Violeta, VV, Red member." I stated. After a few minutes, processing the information, it spoke again. "Key number and Red member authorization." I typed in my key number in the pad then lifted my hat off my head. A small braid fell from it and hung in my face. The braid was colored Red.
I put it the to glass eye and waited as a light came shone from the eyes and scanned the braid. "Red member accepter, welcome back Double V." The female computer said. The door gave a hiss before sliding open. Entering the room, I saw the same walls I usually did. The room was a command center, blue was all you seemed to see. Computers were set up all over, people sitting in front of them and manning each one. There was a single light in the middle of the circle shaped room, lighting a table with a holographic outline of the city. I had seen it a dozen times before, it was the first thing I noticed when I first came to the base six years ago when I was thirteen. I walked up to it and passed my hand through it, watching the picture disrupt then return to normal. "VV, there you are."
Looking over, I saw Neko, our Resistance leader. He was handsome, I have to admit, and I really wasn't one to pay attention to looks. He had bright green eyes with green sparks in them which could get any girl falling head over heels for him. His black hair was spiked up in different places but still took on a professional look. He wore Black, like the rest of us, but had on a gray, muscle shirt under his black cloak. He also had the Red braid hanging on the side of his tanned face. Around his neck was a necklace with the charm of a dagger, a symbol of his and all of our resistance against the government which now loomed over every citizen. "Sorry I'm late. Too many guards were set up around my section of the city. The Sekai are getting smarter, they're trying to weed me out as the resistance member." I said, taking out a file on the table and flipping through it. "Is this the list of Sekai members?" I asked.
Neko was our leader for a few reasons. One, he had everything against the Sekai, the world dictators who had taken every nation under siege. Two, he was the quickest and smartest of us all, one of the few who didn't get brainwashed by the people who took us all as hostages under their laws. Neko, of course, wasn't his real name. None of us used our real names unless it was truly necessary. His nickname was Japanese for cat, seeing as how he had many cat like abilities. Mine was VV, or Double V as a symbol towards my name. "Not all, some are guesses and some are their elder children, around our age I'd expect." He said, plucking the folder from my fingertips, flipping through the pages.
"Oh really?" I asked to which he only nodded. "Yeah, but we cant confirm anything now. Our little weapons expert hasn't gone over our inventory today." He chuckled, putting a hand on my head as he read the notes. "Oh ha ha, I'll check on all of it in a little, I just got here Neko." I said, pulling his hand off of me but smiled at him. Neko was like my older brother, like he was to everyone, but I always had feelings that him and I had a closer connection. I can only remember from age thirteen, before that I have no memory. I was brought into the resistance by him and raised to despise the government that has ruined us all.
He smiled, his flawless white teeth-I swear-would've shone if the lights were brighter. "Very well, I'll give you that, for now. But you've got to get work done around here blondie. Man, we should've given you that nickname." He laughed. It was true, I was a blondie, but I didn't think like one. I had the short blond hair and blue eyes, which made my innocent look help with me being the expert with weapons around here. I couldn't help a smile at him, he could joke around at almost anything. He stared to the pages again, flipping through them again before putting them down again then look to the holograph map. "Alright VV, let's get to work." He said.
I walked to the other side of the table and looked at the map which was displaying all of the city, which was huge, showing three different layers on top of each other. There was the city above, the sewers, then the underground right under it where the Resistance and Red members resided. He picked up what seemed to be a pen and tapped the resembling of the building I entered. Red streams of light sprung out and played out along the buildings, layers, and through out the city, moving around like water guided by a duct to move it. Then they reached their destinations. The trail disappeared and Red lights appeared all over the city. The three layers merged together to show the city, holograms of every citizen showed. The Red dots, were other Red Resistance members.
The dots moved about the map, some dashing across roads, others diving into alleys or to other entrances to the base. "Alright, looks like we have some Red members by Domination Station." Of course, that wasnt the name of an actual building, we just called it that because it was the building where the Sekai now resided. He circled the area with the pen and a circle appeared around the Domination Station. "That's where were getting our information from." He said. "Where is Two K and Fox?" I asked, trying to pin point their location on the map. Two K and Fox had been in the organization for a number of years, older than the rest of us but know that Neko was a better leader. Their age would've gotten in the way of leading, younger blood was needed to make the desicions.
"Those two are visiting the Blue Members on the outer point of the city." Neko placed the pen at an arrow and scrolled it around to move the map around, directiong it to the outskirts. There, a mess of Blue dots appeared. Blue Members were another section of the Resistance, under the control of another person for their region but Neko was one of the main leaders. "Why are they at Blue Base?" I asked. I passed my hand over a symbol of a lighting bolt and a keyboard pad flipped out from the table. A hologram computer screen came up as I typed up the information of the weapons we possesed at the moment, as was my job.
"They're speaking with Micah about their weapon abilities and a trade." He said, trailing the pen along the hologram to observe the streets. "Hm, what's this?" He tapped the pen twice on the map so it zoomed in. I was dragging pictures of different guns we owned one folder to other with my fingers on the computer screen when I looked over to him. "What? What's wrong?" I asked. I exited the screen then pressed Ctrl, Alt, Delete on the pad so it flipped over and pulled back into the table. Walking to the other side, I saw Neko had another pad out and was typing quickly on it, still staring at the screen. I now saw what he was looking at. Two Black hologram figures were beating on a Yellow one. Black was a symbol for the workers and officers working under the Sekai and Yellow was for children under the age of thirteen.
"I'm able to hack into the records. It seems the kid was playing or trying to get some other kids to play with him. They already have him on files. He's nine. Come on VV, this is your's and mine case. Let's go do our duty." He said, making the key pad go back into the table. I nodded, going and pulling my weapon's belt from the hook, clipping it around my belt. It, of course, was Black with an assortment of grenades and other weapons secured onto it. I pulled my braid back up into my hat. Neko pulled on his own hat, stuffing the braid into it before looking at me, nodding. "Neko and Double V leaving base for mission against Sekai Black Members. Coordinates will be sent upon arrival. Surveying is mandatory." Neko said to the people by the computers, placing what looked like a hearing aid into his ear and tossing me one.
"Rodger that sir. Starting trackers on communicators. God speed Neko." A male at a computer said, a person I new as Tech-Originality zero since he is a computer nerd- "God has no place in our lives in anymore." Neko said before he and I began out of the base. Even if the Holy being and traitor God had nothing in this mission, I still prayed to whoever-orwhatever-was up there that what we were doing would one day save us all.
I like this story ^_^ I had an idea for this when I saw a statue in my town then I imagined it against an orange backround and fallen to pieces. It's been a long time since I've written in first person so bare with me.

This is in the view of the young nineteen year old Vendetta, or VV, who is the Weapons Commander(or expert) in the Resistance against the Sekai who have become the World Dictators. This is a look into what she deals with. Hope the prolouge is alright ^ ^ hope you all enjoy~

Brilliant work as always~ >w<
I can picture the characters perfectly, unlike most books that I read. Some of your stories should get published. .3. Especially the ones with Ciro in 'em. >/////>;;
